JOLLY STUDY SQUARE
English qualifications can support learning goals and offer options in admissions. There is no single nationwide advantage: check the institution, department, selection route and entry year.
ENGLISH & JUNIOR-HIGH ADMISSIONS
We reviewed official school information for routes offered from 2024 onwards. These regional examples cover 2026 and 2027 entry. One academic subject can still mean interviews and additional eligibility requirements.
Researched on 15 September 2026. These are selected examples, not an exhaustive directory or a school recommendation ranking. Before applying, check the latest official guidelines for your entry year and route, and contact the school directly about any uncertainty.
A hensachi score depends on the test provider, cohort, gender, date and admission route. Up to three examples lead each region, ordered by available reference scores from the same provider; ties are not ranked. General-subject scores cannot be used as English-admissions thresholds.
ONETES: September 2026 forecast for 2027. Nichinoken Kansai: 17 July 2026 forecast R4 for 2027. Both use an 80% admission-probability reference, but their scales are not interchangeable. The reference route is stated for each value; unverified scores are omitted.

English single-subject routeThe school describes an English-only test at approximately EIKEN Grade 2 to Pre-1 level. A test difficulty guide is not itself a certificate requirement; check the entry-year guidelines.

Official admissions informationWhere this review could not verify matching English-only routes and comparison conditions, we have not filled places with unsupported examples. EIKEN’s directory can help locate qualification-using schools by region; that does not mean each offers an English-only exam.
Search by region and school type (EIKEN)Some routes assess listening, speaking and explaining ideas as well as reading and writing. Build sound–letter foundations alongside vocabulary, comprehension, conversation and composition. Materials do not guarantee admission.
A condition for applying. Other requirements and selection still apply.
Points are added under the school’s rules. Check which score receives them.
A result converts to a subject score. Its relationship to the actual exam score varies.
A specified subject or test is waived, not necessarily the entire entrance examination.
2027 ENTRY · OFFICIAL EXAMPLES
These are examples from official 2027 admissions information, not JSS partner schools or school recommendations.
Check each school’s current treatment of English and qualifications. Do not assume an EIKEN advantage applies everywhere. Keep early goals appropriate to development and enjoyment.

Grade 2+ obtained from April 2024, including S-CBT
