- Look at the outline and structure of the Jolly Grammar program

- Teach the gestures and colors associated with parts of speech

- Look at practical activity ideas that bring Jolly Grammar off the page and into learners' hands.

Jolly Grammar is the next stage after jolly Phonics in the systematic teaching of the Jolly Learning curriculum. This workshop explores the systematic teaching of Jolly Grammar and how it builds on Jolly Phonics and helps to teach spelling, punctuation, and grammar rules. The training will primarily focus on Jolly Grammar 1, 2 and 3, with brief overviews of what comes in the later years of the program. 

Alex Conley

Alex is a professional Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar trainer accredited by Jolly Learning, UK.  He has been teaching Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar in Japan since May 2011 with excellent results. After starting an English School in Tokyo, he began to focus on consulting and teacher training. He has been consulting for schools and training teachers over the last five years. He continues to use Jolly Phonics and Jolly Grammar on a daily basis and hopes to share his experiences with teachers and schools around Japan.

PART 3: Intro to Jolly Grammar

Venue & Access

This training will be held in the I's Advanced English School in Tsukishima, Tokyo near Kachidoki and Tsukishima Stations on the Toei Oedo Line.

Access from Kachidoki Station

From Kachidoki Station on the Toei Oedo line, go out the A1 exit and loop around to the left at the top of the stairs. Go over a small bridge and walk to the next signal. At the signal (across the street from Dai-1 Elementary School), turn left. Walk one block and the building is on the right. I's Advanced English is on the 3rd floor of a brick building.

Access from Tsukishima Station

Exit out the 8a exit of Tsukishima Station.  Continue straight along Kiyosumi Avenue for 400 meters. Turn right at the traffic light across from Tsukishima Dai-1 Elementary School, between two Yakiniku Restaurants. Walk forward 50 meters and I's English School is on the right. Enter the building through the carport and come up the stairs or elevator. The training session will be held in Room 301: あいずアドバンスドイングリッシュスクール. 


By Bus:

- #10 Bus bound for Shimbashi or #33 Bus bound for Toyomi Suisan Futō-iki Station

2 minutes on foot from Tsukishima Dai-1 Shogako bus stop


- #10 Bus bound for Tokyo Sky Tree or #33 Bus bound for Kameido Station

       2 minutes on foot from Kachidoki Station bus stop


- East #16 Bus bound for Tokyo Station Yaesu Exit

       4 minutes on foot from Tsukishima 3-Chome bus stop
